With a stunning 91 in the first WODI here on Sunday, the beautiful Smriti Mandhana furthered her status as one of India’s top match-winners by decimating England by seven wickets.
In one of her final international matches, veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami was accuracy personified with 42 dot balls as England managed a middling 227 for seven, largely thanks to the efforts of the lower middle-order. Harmanpreet Kaur won a good toss.
Mandhana (91 off 99 balls) practically drove and dragged her way to a well-deserved sixth ODI hundred, which she missed out on by nine runs, but India were never in trouble during the chase.
Mandhana, though, had already secured a finish for the Women in Blue in the 45th over by the time she was dismissed, giving them a 1-0 series lead after three games.
