Ravichandran Ashwin, the off-spinner for the Indian squad, made history by becoming just the second bowler in Indian history to take 500 Test wickets.
On Friday, Ravichandran Ashwin, the team’s best off-spinner, became just the second Indian and ninth person in history to capture 500 wickets in a Test match. Ashwin reached the milestone in the third Test match against England in Rajkot, becoming just the second Indian player to take 500 Test wickets, behind the great Anil Kumble.Before the third Test began, Ashwin needed just one wicket to reach 500 wickets. The off-spinner finished the feat in England’s opening innings when he bowled Zak Crawley for 15. In an attempt to sweep from the outside leg, Zak Crawley went over the top edge. Ashwin became just the second Indian player to achieve this remarkable feat as his teammates gathered around him to congratulate him.
