Cristiano Ronaldo claims he got several offers from European teams but chose to join Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr instead.

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest players of all time, has entered unknown ground by signing a ‘jackpot agreement’ with Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr. Ronaldo’s transfer to the Middle East as a professional player raised some eyebrows, but he seemed to have his reasons. As he arrived at his new club on Tuesday, the Portuguese superstar characterised himself as a “special player” and vowed his career was not done.

After sparkling seasons at Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, the 37-year-old Portuguese attacker has signed a massive deal for 200 million euros ($211 million).

“I’m a one-of-a-kind player. It’s great to be here; I smashed all the records in Europe, and I’d want to break a few more here “Ronaldo made the announcement to the media at Al Nassr’s Mrsool Park stadium.

“I’m going here to win, to play, to enjoy, to be a part of the country’s achievements and culture,” he continued.

Ronaldo appeared to be set to stay in Europe for another year or two, but a purported ‘lack of interest’ in his talents led to his signing with a Saudi Arabian team. However, according to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, he turned down a slew of offers from Europe and abroad to join the Saudis.

“In Europe my work is done,” he stated, adding: “I had many offers in Europe, many in Brazil, Australia, the US, even in Portugal.

“Many teams sought to recruit me, but I committed to this club for the opportunity to play not just football, but also to be a part of this incredible country. And that was a struggle for me “He stated.

Ronaldo was already introduced as an Al-Nassr player during a large gathering. He might be eligible for selection in the club’s next encounter on January 5, although he is unlikely to play due to a lack of training sessions.
