Brian Lara praised Sachin Tendulkar, calling him one of the greatest batters he had faced during his career.

Brian Lara faced a slew of world-class cricketers during his glittering career. Many caught his attention, and some he felt were extra special. The former Trinidadian cricketer is regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time, but he has always been modest in his approach to praising other players.

Many modern-day cricket fans are unaware that Lara has the highest individual score in first-class cricket history, an unbeaten 501 for Warwickshire in 1994. He is also the cricketer with the highest individual score in a Test innings, having scored 400 not out in a match against England in Antigua in 2004.

During a recent interview with Fox Cricket, the 53-year-old was asked about some of the best bowlers and batters he faced during his career, and he singled out Sachin Tendulkar. Despite the fact that most Indian batters find it easy to score runs at home but struggle to do so on foreign soil, Sachin did not fall into that category due to his ‘technique capable of handling anything’. “Definitely Sachin Tendulkar and that’s not taking anything away from pre-Sachin time in Indian batting because obviously they had Sunil Gavaskar and Mohammad Azharuddin. However, when it comes to Indian players in India, there are a number of them who will score a lot of runs against you.Few Indian batsmen survived and adapted to the conditions in Australia or the Caribbean when they left India. That was the first thing I noticed about Sachin. It makes no difference where you took him, the bowler’s speed, or the amount of spin he is getting. “He had the technique to handle anything,” he said.
