Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League due to a lack of NOC from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. The Lankan spinner was drafted by the Quetta Gladiators for the eighth season of the PSL, and he was expected to arrive on Monday. SLC, on the other hand, has asked him to concentrate on first-class cricket. The leg spinner will also return to the Sri Lankan squad for the Test series against New Zealand.
Why hasn’t Sri Lankan cricket granted Hasaranga a NOC for the PSL 2023?
*Hasaranga is an important bowler for Sri Lanka in all formats, and the SLC does not want to overwork him.
*Sri Lanka has a chance to reach the WTC final if they defeat New Zealand 2-0 in Test matches.
*Although Hasaranga does not play much Test cricket, he is expected to join the New Zealand tour.
*With the PSL and the New Zealand series clashing, the SLC wants Hasranga to prioritise playing for the national team.
*With IPL starting on March 31, SLC is likely to grant him NOC.
