During his active days of cricket, former all-rounders of the Pakistan cricket team, Abdul Razzaq, chose this Indian batsman as the most dangerous.
Over the years, India has had some extra-ordinary batsmen. If one has to pick the name that sits at the top of the list, most would arguably go with Sachin Tendulkar. However, the former all-rounder of the Pakistan cricket team, Abdul Razzaq, has revealed that it wasn’t Sachin that Pakistan players were most afraid of while playing against India during his active time as a cricketer. In fact, during his active time as a cricketer, it was Virender Sehwag that the players of Pakistan considered to be the most dangerous player, whereas Sachin Tendulkar came in second on the list.
In his chat with the Times of India, Razzaq disclosed that “Virender Sehwag was the most dangerous player, and after him it was Sachin Tendulkar.” Whenever Pakistan used to plan against Sehwag and Tendulkar, Our plan used to be like, “If we get these two wickets of Sehwag and Tendulkar, then for sure we will win the match.” In bowling, our batsmen used to plan against Zaheer Khan. Irfan Pathan was there too for some time. Harbhajan Singh was there. “These were the big names who played big matches and performed for their country.”
Razzaq also picked Yuvraj Singh as a player who was considered dangerous in the middle order by the Pakistan team. Whereas, if we talk about the dangerous Indian bowlers, then Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh were the once-team that Pakistan batsmen used to plan the most against.
He further said, “In the middle order, Yuvraj Singh was the one.” Sehwag, Tendulkar, and Yuvraj were the big names. When we dismissed them, we used to say, “Yes, we have taken big wickets today.” These were the players Pakistan seriously planned against. The plan involved how and what to bowl, certain areas to bowl to them in, field settings, and trying different bowlers and deliveries against these batsmen. “In a similar way, our batsmen planned against bowlers like Zaheer, Harbhajan, and Irfan,” he further said.
