Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant are expected to miss the full 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season
Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, two of the Delhi Capitals’ and Mumbai Indians’ star players, have both been replaced. Abhishek Porel has taken the position of Pant in Delhi, and Sandeep Warrier has replaced Bumrah in the Mumbai Indians lineup for the IPL 2023 season. Even though it was long known what would happen to the two players, both MI and DC took their time selecting suitable replacements before announcing the identities of the newcomers on the day the IPL 2023 season was set to begin.
Due to the injuries he received as a result of the car accident on December 30 of last year, Pant will miss the full season. Bumrah, on the other hand, have been absent for a while. He didn’t play in either the T20 World Cup or the Asia Cup last year.
The IPL issued a statement in which it stated: “Porel, a wicketkeeper-batter, has represented Bengal in 16 First-Class games as well as three List A games and as many T20s. Sandeep Warrier, an Indian player, has taken 62 wickets in 68 T20 matches so far. He played five IPL games while a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively.
Sandeep Warrier has joined MI for INR 50 lakh, while Porel has joined DC for INR 20 lakh.
On April 2, Mumbai Indians’ season will begin on the road against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The World Test Championship (WTC) against Australia in June as well as the full IPL have been postponed due to the 29-year-old Bumrah’s back surgery earlier this year in New Zealand.
The right-arm bowler wants to return, though, for India’s hosting of the 50-over World Cup in October and November of this year.
Bumrah was seen chatting with England pace sensation Jofra Archer while witnessing the Women’s Premier League final with his MI teammates at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai last Sunday.
