Virat Kohli has made 103 runs in two games for Royal Challengers Bangalore, opening the batting with skipper Faf du Plessis.
Virat Kohli has scored over 100 runs in two games for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League season 2023. His exploits in the matches gave the supporters great optimism, as they had hoped to see RCB capture the title since the IPL began in 2008. However, farmer Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has advised Virat to vacate the opening position and bat in the middle order for the franchise in the future.
Irfan Pathan stated on Star Sports that “this year is looking different for RCB as runs are coming out of Virat Kohli’s bat in the first few games.”However, there is no assurance that he will continue to score at the same rate (or for the rest of the season) and win every game. In a competition like this, the other batters on the RCB club will have to rise to the occasion and prove their abilities and roles. Also, I don’t believe Kohli should bat first for the RCB.”
Even former Australian cricketer Tom Moody believes that Royal Challengers Bangalore’s middle order is poor, making the likelihood of Plessis and Kohli occupying the top place dangerous. “To me, RCB’s middle order appears weak, and teams will look to exploit this fact and pick up the wickets of Kohli and Faf early,” he added. “If the opposition teams can take a couple of wickets in the powerplays, they’ll be right in the game against the RCB.”
