Jason Holder might be benched for RR’s upcoming IPL 2023 match.
On Friday, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face the reigning champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium. RR will be trying to bounce back following a final-over setback to MI at the Wankhede Stadium in their last outing. So far, Sanju Samson’s team has won five and lost four of their nine games.
RR won their first game of the season against SRH but lost their second game by 5 runs to PBKS. In Guwahati, the Royals defeated DC by a score of 57 runs. Then, in a thrilling game in Chennai, RR defeated CSK by three runs. In the reverse game, RR made it three victories in a row by defeating the reigning champions Gujarat Titans by three wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
RR fell narrowly to LSG in their maiden game in Jaipur this season, failing to chase down a 155-run target. RR then fell to RCB by 7 runs after failing to chase down a 190-run mark in Bangalore. Then, in Jaipur, RR defeated CSK. However, RR lost to MI by 6 wickets last time out as the bowlers were unable to defend 212 runs and the MI batters took their team home.
Jaiswal is the team’s current leading run-scorer with 428 runs, while skipper Samson has contributed 212 runs.
Dhruv Jurel and Ashwin have also contributed significantly to the team’s lower-order batting prowess. This season, Devdutt Padikkal has also scored 194 runs. Riyan Parag has been in and out of the lineup this season due to his poor play.
What about the bowlers? Chahal has taken twelve wickets at an economy rate of eight, Ashwin has taken thirteen wickets at a rate of seven, while Boult has taken 10 wickets. Sandeep Sharma has taken eight wickets, while Jason Holder has also taken a couple key scalps. This season, Zampa has also taken five wickets. Holder allowed more over 50 runs in the previous game and might be replaced by Obed McCoy.
Depending on whether RR bats or fields first, Riyan Parag, M Ashwin, or Kuldeep Sen might be used as an impact player.
