Avinash broke his own national record with a time of 13:19.30, more than six seconds faster than his previous performance of 13:25:65.
Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) athletes Parul Chaudhary and Avinash Sable established national records in the women’s and men’s 5000-meter races, respectively, during the Sound Running Track Festival in Los Angeles late Saturday night.
Avinash broke his own national record with a time of 13:19.30, more than six seconds faster than his previous performance of 13:25:65. The headlines, however, were made by 28-year-old Parul Chaudhary, who shattered Preeja Sreedharan’s 13-year-old record established at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou by more over five seconds. Parul ran 15:10:35, breaking the previous national record of 15:15.89.
“I am feeling great that I have been able to break a record that has been intact for the last 13 years,” Parul Chaudhary remarked of the accomplishment. “I am grateful to my coaches, IIS, and JSW Sports for always being there for me and ensuring that all of my training needs are met.”
“I have been training in the United States since April, and I would say that this training has really benefitted me,” the 2019 Asian Championship bronze medalist said of her training in the United States. I’ve been getting the necessary exposure, and I’d like to continue training outside of the nation to better my outcomes. Every day, I set a new goal for myself and strive to meet it. My next goal is to qualify for the World Championships, which I am convinced I will do. My next tournament is on May 19th, and I’m hoping to better my performance.”
