In 2013, G Sathiyan was a defensive player who was having trouble adjusting to a plethora of talented homegrown players. There weren’t many unique tools he could use to counteract aggressive or spin-heavy games his opponents brought to the table. His small and thin physique did not allow him to deliver shots with appropriate force. He was hindered from standing out even at the domestic level by a number of factors.
