The participation of Pakistan in the ODI World Cup in India is now “subject to government approval,” according to Najam Sethi, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board. This puts the International Cricket Council in a difficult position before the mega-event’s programme is set. After all parties, including the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah, agreed to conduct the 2018 Asia Cup using the hybrid format as suggested by the PCB chairman, Sethi made his remarks. “Neither the PCB nor the BCCI have any decision-making authority over India and Pakistan. Sethi stated during a news conference that only the various governments have the authority to make choices.
“Our government must make the decision, just as their government makes the decision on when children in India go to play. Asking us if we’ll perform in Ahmedabad is pointless.
“When the time comes, the government will first decide if we are going or not, and then it will choose where we are going. These two crucial requirements will determine our course of action, he said.

The ODI World Cup would be played in India in October-November thanks to the acceptance of the Asia Cup schedule. On October 15, the traditional foes are anticipated to square off at the largest cricket stadium in the globe in Ahmedabad.
It is believed that Pakistan opted not to put any requirements for competing in the World Cup after ICC CEO Geoff Allardice and chairman Greg Barclay met with Sethi in Karachi last month. This is given that four Asia Cup matches be hosted in Pakistan as they hold the hosting rights.
Sethi continued, “We have informed the ICC that we will travel to India to play provided our government examines the security issues and grants us permission. How can we travel to India and play if they refuse?Even if the government grants us permission, we still have to consider the venues before selecting a location. That follows next. First, we need the government’s approval. We need to know if we can go or not from it. From August 31 to September 17 the Asia Cup will be played, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka hosting four and nine games respectively.
