“I Would Never Go To India”: Pakistan Dominates ODI World Cup Scenario

Javed Miandad, a Pakistan icon, believes the PCB should not send a team to India for the ODI World Cup 2023 until the BCCI sends a team to Pakistan.

Javed Miandad spat further venom at India, claiming that Pakistan should not travel to the adjacent country for matches, including this year’s ICC ODI World Cup, until the BCCI agrees to send its squad to his country first. According to the ICC’s draught schedule, Pakistan will face India in a blockbuster World Cup match on October 15 at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the 66-year-old former skipper believes it is now time for India to reciprocate by touring Pakistan.

“Pakistan has been to India in 2012 and even in 2016, and now it is the turn of the Indians to come here,” Miandad explained.

“If I had to choose, I would never go to India to play any match, including the World Cup.” We are always ready to play them (India), but they never respond in the same way.

India last visited Pakistan for the 50-over Asia Cup in 2008. Bilateral cricket connections have since been discontinued due to long-standing geopolitical issues between the two countries. Miandad believes that sports should not be involved with politics.
“I always say that one cannot choose one’s neighbours, so it is better to live together by cooperating.” And I’ve always thought that cricket is a sport that brings people together and helps to clear up misconceptions and conflicts between countries,” he remarked.
Miandad’s new offensive comes after Pakistan was obliged to host the 2018 Asia Cup under a hybrid format, with India playing all of their matches in Sri Lanka.
This decision infuriated Miandad, a strong opponent of India.
“Pakistan cricket is bigger…we are stronger.”

“It was on the cards that they would not send their team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup again, so it is time we also take a strong stand now,” he added.
