WI wicketkeeper Joshua disclosed to Kohli during one of the stump mic discussions on Day 1 of the 2nd Test that his mum is a major fan of him.

In addition to Virat Kohli making his 500th appearance for India in the second Test match against the West Indies, where he scored a historic century en route to his knock of 121 and assisted the visitors in compiling an enormous first-innings total, videos of stump mic chatter from the game have been a real entertainment on social media. The majority of the interactions on the first day of play at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, were between Kohli and West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva.

Joshua told Kohli during one of those on-the-stump conversations that his mother is a tremendous admirer of his and that she was travelling to the location specifically to see him perform. Joshua had remarked on Day 1: “My mom called and said she’s coming to watch the game for Virat Kohli, I couldn’t believe it.”

On Friday, the West Indies star’s mother was present at the stadium to watch Kohli break a long streak of not scoring a century in an international Test match as the former India captain accelerated to his 29th century in the format and 76th overall. India’s first innings score of 438 was aided by the knock of 121, and at the end of Day 1, they still held a 352 run advantage.

On Day 2, later, Joshua’s mother ran into Kohli near the Team India bus, gave him a bear embrace, and then sobbed as the Windies cricketer captured the touching scene on camera.
