Heath Streak is being treated by one of South Africa’s most renowned oncologists.

Heath Streak, a former Zimbabwe footballer, has formally responded to the bogus news concerning his death that swept the internet on Wednesday. He also requested that the source apologise for propagating false information.

“It’s a complete rumour and a lie.” I’m still alive and healthy. I am really disappointed to find that something as significant as someone purportedly going away can be circulated unconfirmed, especially in this day and age of social media, and I believe the source should apologise. “The news has hurt me,” he said to Mid-Day.

Earlier in the day, his former teammate Sean Williams posted on X: “Streaky! There are no words to describe what you and your family have done for my and many others. Our hearts are shattered because you leave behind a wonderful family and a legacy for us to uphold! We will miss you greatly.

This was followed by an homage from another former comrade, Henry Olonga.

However, Olonga confirmed the 49-year-old’s survival one hour later. Olonga revealed their conversation on X, writing, “I can confirm that rumours of Heath Streak’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.” I just got a call from him. He has been summoned by the third umpire. He’s still alive, people.”

Streak is receiving treatment from one of South Africa’s most renowned oncologists, his family reported in May. Streak retired from professional cricket in 2005 after scoring 1990 runs at an average of 22.35 and taking 216 wickets at an average of 28.14 in Test cricket. Heath has 2,943 runs and 239 wickets in white-ball cricket.
