“My goal is to do something for the country and take Odisha forward,” Jena stated when discussing his future plans with ANI. I had no expectations going into the World Championships because it was new to me. But the knowledge I gained there will be useful for the Asian Games. I’ve been considering the Asian Games and want to do well there.
Neeraj Chopra won the men’s javelin throw event in Budapest’s World Athletics Championships 2023 final, narrowly defeating Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem by less than a metre to become India’s first-ever gold medalist.
In his second effort, Neeraj threw 88.17 metres, which was his greatest throw, and he was able to maintain his lead all the way to the finish line. DP Manu (best of 84.14 m) came in sixth, followed by Kishore Jena (best of 84.77 m).

“Neeraj Chopra is an amazing player as well as a wonderful human being. He’s a player that everyone admires. We talked to one another on what to do and the issues during the game. He continues to inform and encourage. We winning gold in the javelin event at the World Championships was a source of pride for me and the entire nation. The sport has gained fame ever since Neeraj bhai won the Olympic gold medal, and I hope it does so in the future,” Jena continued.
