Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka have all advanced to the Super Fours from the initial six teams in the Asia Cup 2023. On September 6, Pakistan and Bangladesh will square off in the opening match of this championship at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
In their opening match of the Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan (PAK) completely destroyed Nepal, winning by 238 runs. Before Shadab Khan used a four-for to wrap the opposition in a web of deception, Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed each got hundreds against the debutants. In their second clash, Babar Azam and company played India, their bitter foe.
Before Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan put together a 138-run partnership that enabled India set a target of 267, the “Men in Green” bowled with a lot of venom and had India reeling at 66/4. As a result of the match’s cancellation due to persistent rain, Pakistan was unable to start their chase.
In their opening match against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh (BAN) struggled mightily at the plate and were bowled out for 164. With 11 overs remaining, the Tigers were defeated by five wickets despite Shakib Al Hasan’s best efforts to make the Sri Lankan batters work hard for their runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s hundreds helped Bangladesh batsmen step up when they needed to beat Afghanistan. Afghanistan were bundled out for 245 while attempting to pursue a difficult target of 335.
