One of India’s most reliable players in one-day international cricket is Shubman Gill.

In the most recent ICC ODI Players’ Rankings, Indian opener Shubman Gill shot up to second place among batsmen as a result of his contributions to the present Asia Cup. India has not yet suffered a loss in the Asia Cup, and a large part of their success can be attributed to the valiant efforts of its batsmen, notably the top order, which includes skipper Rohit Sharma, Gill, and talisman Virat Kohli. In the most recent rankings, Kohli moved up two spaces to eighth place while Rohit moved up two spots to ninth place, making them both Indian batsmen. Gill isn’t the only one of them.

The most recent rankings for batsmen include three Indians for the first time in more over four and a half years in the Top 10.

In the competition, Gill has already scored two half-centuries, totaling 154 runs.

He has achieved a career high of second place among batsmen thanks to his strong performance in the current tournament. He is behind Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, who is now in first place.

The difference between Gill and Babar has significantly shrunk, according to the ICC standings, and is now just 103 rating points.

The Pakistani skipper now holds the top spot in the batting rankings with 863 rating points, followed by Gill with 759 points.

The last time India had three players among the top ten batsmen, according to rankings, was at the start of 2019.

Alongside Rohit and Kohli, the starting lineup in January 2019 included Shikhar Dhawan, an opener.

Three of the players for Pakistan, which shares the top slot in the ODI rankings with Australia, are in the top ten batting rankings.

Imam-ul-Haq, a fellow opener, has slid one spot to fifth, while Fakhar Zaman has dropped three spots to tenth.

On the strength of his nine wickets in the Asia Cup, India’s Kuldeep Yadav, who is currently in the best shape of his life, moved up the bowling rankings to take the seventh spot.

Hardik Pandya, a star all-rounder for India, has also climbed four spots to reach sixth overall in the all-rounders standings.
