On October 6, the biopic 800, starring Sri Lankan spin superstar Muttiah Muralitharan, will be released.
Muttiah Muralitharan, a legendary spinner from Sri Lanka, has declared that Sachin Tendulkar was a “genius from day one” and that no cricketer can compare to the Indian batting master. The cricketer with the most wickets in international competition, Muralitharan, revealed in an interview with ANI that the planned biopic, “800,” will focus on more than just his playing career. The cricketing icon talked about his on-field battles with Sachin and how he wished the Indian batter was out quickly.
Sachin cannot be matched by any cricketer. Because he received a first-class hundred when he was just 14, a national honour when he was 16 and a century when he was 17 for them. You cannot do that.
The 2010 international Test cricket player Muralitharan claimed to have played under seven different captains.
“You see, I am proficient. I am also aware of what Sachin will attempt. Like chess, it is a guessing game. You ask God to let him leave as soon as possible. In 20 years of playing, I have been a captain seven times. I can think of a 2007 incident. In the 2007 50-over World Cup, our group included Bermuda, Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka. Only two groups could advance. India was our opponent. Thank God, Sachin batted at number four when we initially believed he would start the game. India was trying to chase down 255 when Dilhara Fernando got his wicket, he claimed.
“The wicket in the 1996 World Cup tended to turn a lot. India was 70/1 when Sachin began to bat (in the semifinals, chasing 252). It appeared to be a batting surface. But after he was dismissed, India’s (team’s) score dropped to 120/7. He plays that way, making things simpler than others. We thought it was more crucial to get him out. When he left, all of India’s dreams were dashed, but ours were raised, he said.
Muralitharan described Sachin as a “down-to-earth” person when discussing their friendship.
He is really down to earth, in my opinion as a nice buddy. With a billion people depending on him, this character is the biggest I’ve ever seen. I consider myself to be more than just a colleague. When he was younger, his abilities fascinated me. Amazingly, it was. When I first started, I had difficulty for the first six to seven years; but, after that, I had no problems. But from the beginning, Sachin was brilliant, he added.
When Sachin was approached about releasing the movie’s trailer, according to Muralitharan, the former cricketer immediately consented. Muralitharan retired from Test matches in 2010.
“I also considered calling Jayasuriya (Sanath Jayasuriya, a former all-rounder for Sri Lanka who attended the trailer event) for the launch. He got going a little before I did, but we got there together. He was a fantastic captain and player. He modified how ODI cricket is played, the speaker continued.
Muralitharan claimed that the movie “800” discusses his record-breaking wicket total as well as the Sri Lankan team’s triumph against all odds.
“It also concerns events not related to cricket. It describes how I reached the 800-wicket milestone, the civil conflict my nation experienced, and the accomplishments of the Sri Lankan team. I’ve caught a few minutes of the movie. It looks extremely great, and I hope people will like it,” he said.
On September 5, Sachin and former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya launched the trailer in Mumbai. On October 6, the biopic is scheduled for release.
The only bowler to record 800 Test wickets and 530 ODI wickets is Muralitharan, a member of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame and one of the best bowlers in the history of the game. He averages over six wickets each Test match and is the leading wicket-taker in both the Test and ODI formats.
Tendulkar was fired by Muralitharan 13 times throughout his playing period.
