At the Asia Cup 2023 final on Sunday at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India bowled Sri Lanka out for its second-lowest ODI score ever.
Dasun Shanaka’s team, which elected to bat first after winning the toss, was completely destroyed by a stunning Mohammed Siraj spell. In just 15.2 overs, Sri Lanka was out for 50.
The score broke Bangladesh’s previous record of 87 all out against Pakistan in 2000 to become the lowest ever in men’s Asia Cup ODIs.
In the 50-over format, Sri Lanka’s worst performance occurred in 2012 when it was dismissed for just 43 in 20.1 overs, suffering a 258-run loss.
