The USA and the West Indies will co-host the T20 World Cup, which will be played there for the first time.
The USA-leg venues for the ICC Men’s World Cup 2024 have been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as New York, Dallas, and Florida. The three stadiums hosting the matches in the US are Broward County (Florida), Grand Prairie (Dallas), and Eisenhower Park (New York). The USA will co-host the event with the West Indies for the first time, and it will take place in the country. The USA had been given the event for 2021 by the ICC. These locations were chosen after a thorough vetting process, according to the governing body’s Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice.
“We’re excited to reveal the three USA venues that will play host to a portion of the largest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever held, including 20 teams vying for the championship.
In a statement issued by the ICC, Allardice said, “We looked into a number of potential venue options in the nation and were very heartened by the enthusiasm the event generated among prospective hosts.”
Using modular stadium solutions, Allardice said the current facilities in Florida and Dallas will be enlarged to accommodate additional spectators, media, and upscale hospitality sections.
He said that the same technology will be applied to the construction of a 34,000-seat modular stadium in Nassau County, New York, and he expressed hope that he would be able to secure the necessary permit by the end of the month.
“The chance to deploy modular stadium technology excites us much. This technology is frequently used in other major sports around the world and has been employed at prior ICC championships to improve venue capacity.
“In the USA, it will give us the opportunity to increase the size of the venues in both Dallas and Florida and create what is going to be a stunning venue in New York,” stated Allardice.
Other locations across the country, like George Mason University in Washington, which serves as the new home of MLC team Washington Freedom, have also been mentioned as potential sites for pre-event games and training.
Due to concerns about the stadiums’ readiness, the decision from the ICC has also allayed all worries about the USA hosting the T20 WC in 2024.
