Tom Blundell led New Zealand to 254 runs in the second one-day international against Bangladesh on Saturday in Dhaka.
Blundell’s second ODI half-century, which included six fours and a six, helped New Zealand recover from 36-3 after stand-in skipper Lockie Ferguson won the toss and chose to bat.
Henry Nicholls contributed 49 runs as the pair combined 95 runs for the fourth wicket to keep New Zealand’s innings afloat.
In cloudy conditions, Bangladesh took an early lead with to left-arm bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who struck openers Will Young for a duck and Finn Allen for 12.
Khaled Ahmed made his debut by forcing Chad Bowes (14) to edge a catch at square leg to Towhid Hridoy.
Khaled also ended Blundell and Nicholls’ partnership when the latter nicked a catch behind the stumps.
Hasan Mahmud, a right-arm pacer who came in as a late replacement for Tanzim Hasan, removed Blundell’s off-stump four overs later.
But Ish Sodhi (35), Cole McConchie (20), and Kyle Jamieson (20) all scored well down the order to help New Zealand pass the 250-run mark before being bowled out in 49.2 overs.
On 17, Hasan Mankaded Sodhi, but Bangladesh skipper Liton Das withdrew the appeal as the Kiwi walked back to the pavilion.
Bangladesh’s off-spinner Mahedi and pacer Khaled took 3-45 and 3-60, respectively.
