The Olympic Council of Asia reported on Monday that between 150 and 200 athletes for the Asian Games have already undergone drug testing.

According to the Olympic Council of Asia, 150 to 200 competitors competing in the Asian Games have already undergone drug testing; nevertheless, there have been no positive results. The OCA stated that drug testing was “gaining momentum” at the competition during a press conference on anti-doping on the second full day of the Games in Hangzhou, China. Drug cheats would be exposed, according to Mani Jegathesan, a member of the OCA anti-doping committee. (Asian Games Medals Tally | Complete Programme – September 25)

Up to 200 athletes have been tested thus far, he claimed, but it will take a few days for any positive outcomes to surface.

Jegathesan cautioned that any athlete competing in these Games needed to be aware that they might be selected at any moment. The only way to guarantee a clean event is to take that action.

The 19th Asian Games would feature more athletes than the Olympics (12,000), and Jegathesan acknowledged that it would be impossible to test them all.

Instead, they will prioritise, choosing among those who set new Asian or world marks.
