Asian Games: In the Women’s 10 m Air Pistol Final, Palak wins a record-breaking gold medal while Esha takes silver

Palak not only won gold, but also set a new Asian Games record in her category, breaking China’s mark from 2018.

A gold medal was won by 17-year-old Palak and a silver by 18-year-old Esha Singh in the women’s solo final of the 10m air pistol on Friday, continuing the Indian team’s historically successful shooting streak at the present Asian Games in Hangzhou. Palak not only won the gold medal but also broke China’s 2018 record for her category at the Asian Games with a personal score of 242.1 points.

With 239.7 points and her fourth medal of these Olympics, Esha won the silver, extending her remarkable shooting streak in Hangzhou

India now has 17 shooting medals at Hangzhou.

India now has 30 medals from the 2018 Asian Games, including eight gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze medals.

Earlier, the men’s trio of Swapnil Kusal, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Akhil Sheoran won gold in the 50 m rifle men’s 3P event on Friday.

Team India won gold with a score of 1769 points. The silver medal was won with 1763 points, and the bronze medal was won by South Korea with 1748 points. With their score, India also shattered the world record of 1761 points held by the United States since previous year.

Esha Singh, Palak, and Divya Subbaraju, a shooting trio, earlier extended their nation’s unbreakable streak in shooting by winning a silver medal in the women’s 10 m air rifle pistol team final at the 2018 Asian Games on Friday.

India finished in second place with 1731 points, barely five points behind China (1736 points), who took home the gold. With 1723 points, Chinese Taipei won the bronze medal.

Sarabjot Singh, Shiva Narwal, and Arjun Singh Cheema won another gold medal for India earlier on Thursday in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team event at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Sarabjot Singh battled back to finish the match in fifth position and advance to the individual event final. In eighth place, Arjun Singh Cheema achieved finalist status. Shiva Narwal finished in 14th place, disqualifying him from the individual final, but the Indian team’s overall score was enough to beat China by one point and win the gold medal.

the 1734-point score India’s team won the gold medal, China came in second with 1733 points, and Vietnam took home the bronze with 1730.
