Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by six wickets using the DLS technique today in Hangzhou to win the bronze medal in the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games.

By hitting the final ball for a boundary and bringing the score to 65 in five overs, Rakibul Hasan helped the guys in red and green secure third place. Yasir Ali caused the greatest damage by scoring a 16-ball 38 in the rain-shortened game before falling on the penultimate delivery. Afif Hossain scored 20 points off of 11 shots. After rain prematurely interrupted Pakistan’s innings at 48 for one after five overs, Bangladesh were given a revised target of 65 in five overs.

Prior to play being delayed by rain, Pakistan reached 48 for one after five overs thanks to a stunning 32 not out from Mirza Baig. After a rain-delayed start, Bangladesh had won the toss and decided to bat first.

The only other medal won by Bangladesh at the competition was in women’s cricket. The Tigresses had previously defeated their Pakistani rivals to win the first bronze medal.
