In India’s eight-wicket victory over Afghanistan on Wednesday, captain Rohit Sharma amassed a commanding century. In the present ODI World Cup, India thrashed Afghanistan to win their second straight match, with Rohit breaking multiple records his route to a fantastic 131 off 84 balls. With 15 overs remaining, the hosts reached the victory target of 273 and moved up to the second spot in the points standings. Hitting seven hundreds in the World Cup, Rohit surpassed the great Sachin Tendulkar to become the first Indian player to do so.
Along with breaking Kapil Dev’s (72) record, Rohit became the first player to reach triple figures for India in World Cup history with an ODI century off just 63 balls.

Tendulkar (20) and Sourav Ganguly (21) are two Indians who rank among the top scorers in World Cup history with 1,000 runs.
