Following their heartbreaking defeat of South Africa in Kolkata, Australia advanced to the final against India.
Australia narrowly defeated South Africa in the second semi-final of the ICC men’s World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to advance to the final in South Africa, despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Earlier, South Africa scored 212 runs short of par thanks to a century from David Miller. Australia’s bowling attack was led by captain Pat Cummins and included Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood. This came after Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, chose to bat against Australia after winning the toss.
