The’maro mujhe maro’ guy, Momin Saqib, gained notoriety in 2019 for his antics during the ODI World Cup in England.

Even though Pakistan’s squad has a terrible record against India in the World Cup, the country’s supporters have consistently shown up in big numbers. In a rain-plagued match at Old Trafford, Manchester, in 2019, the team captained by Virat Kohli crushed Pakistan by 89 runs. Because of his actions during the tournament in England, a Pakistani fan named Momin Saqib garnered a lot of attention. Momin had gone to Manchester with his brother to attend the match; he was studying in London at the time.

But as India turned out to be the superior team that evening, Pakistan was dealt yet another blow.

Momin, however, let his frustrations show after the loss when he said that the Pakistani players had eaten street food the day before the match, primarily pizza and hamburgers.

“These players should be made to leave cricket and join wrestling,” he had further asserted.

Prior to the game, a few Pakistani players were also charged with smoking sheesh, or hookah.

Imam-ul-Haq, the opening player for Pakistan who played in the event, has finally come clean about Momin’s comments. Furthermore, Imam disclosed that the challenged Momin regarding the same.

“There was a story in the media following our World Cup loss to India that Wahab Riaz, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, and I had Sheesha (hookah) before the game. Next, Momin Saqib mentioned that these people were eating pizza and hamburgers. I had raised the same issue with Momin. Imam stated on the Honest Hour podcast, “He is a good guy and might have said it in a joking way, but I was pretty angry at that time.”

“The truth behind that report is that Hasan Ali and I were the ones who made the burger purchases. After the training session, we were quite exhausted while we were in Manchester. We had Azhar Mehmood as our bowling coach at the time. We went to grab the burgers for his three girls because he has three of them,” he said.

Similar to 2019, India defeated Pakistan once more at the recently concluded World Cup on home soil, this time with skipper Rohit Sharma at the helm.
