In the first Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Praveen Kumar disclosed that Royal Challengers Bangalore was not his first choice and that Lalit Modi had a harsh stance against him for refusing to sign with the team.
Praveen Kumar, a former fast bowler for the Indian cricket team, disclosed that during the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) first season, Royal Challengers Bangalore was not his first option. He further explained that Lalit Modi took offense at his refusal to sign with the team. Praveen told Lallantop that he signed a document from an RCB official that turned out to be a contract, but that he really wanted to play for the Delhi Daredevils because they were near his birthplace of Meerut. The IPL commissioner threatened to terminate Praveen’s career when he went to talk to him about his decision.
“I didn’t want to play for RCB because the food wasn’t to my taste, I didn’t speak English, and Bangalore was a long way from home. I could have visited my house occasionally because Delhi and Meerut are fairly close. I was forced to sign a paper, though, by someone. I had no idea it was part of the deal. I expressed my desire to represent Delhi instead of Bangalore. When Lalit Modi called, he threatened to ruin my career.stated Praveen during the interview.
In the 1990s, reverse swing became a potent tool for fast bowlers, and Pakistani fast bowlers were regarded as masters of the art.
Players used to scratch the ball from one side to make it reverse swing, according to Praveen in an interview with Lallantop. However, he noted that even after tampering, one still requires expertise to exploit the reverse swing effectively in bowling.”They (the Pakistani bowlers) do it a little bit more than everyone else. It’s what I’ve been told. Nowadays, cameras are present everywhere. Everyone used to do it in the past. And everybody is aware of it. They would start at one side and scratch it. However, you also need to know how to apply that ability.Someone will need to be proficient at reverse-swinging if I were to scratch the ball and give it to them. It’s something that one must discover,” Praveen remarked.
