In the game’s shortest format, Finn Allen surpassed Brendon McCullum to become the player with the best score by a New Zealander.
In the third T20 International against Pakistan in Dunedin on Wednesday, New Zealand opened the scoring with a record-breaking 137 off 62 deliveries, setting a target of 225 runs. Allen did this to surpass Brendon McCullum as the New Zealander with the highest score in the game’s shortest format. In addition, he matched Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai’s world record of 16 sixes in an innings. He scored 27 runs in an over off Pakistani player Haris Rauf.
Due to a hamstring injury, regular captain Kane Williamson of the Black Caps is out for the rest of the series. Williamson was previously supposed to be rested for game three.
Tim Seifert brought in Matt Henry to replace Williamson, while Lockie Ferguson was also acquired to strengthen the bowling unit.
At Dunedin’s University Oval, New Zealand has won 15 international matches without losing.
The hosts, who are ahead 2-0 in the five-match series, will try to secure the series victory.
