Former England captain Alastair Cook and India captain Rohit Sharma seemed to have no notion how to offset England’s strong performance in the first Test.

Alastair Cook is a former England captain. India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, appeared to have no idea how to match England’s strong performance in the first Test. Cook says the players “didn’t really know where to turn or who to look at” and were “all at sea” when they lost by 28 runs.
Cook stated, “They found themselves with a free chance at the end of day two, when they were in a situation where you don’t win many games of cricket. It almost freed them up so they could play.

“I remarked before the series that it will be interesting to observe how India deals with England’s eagerness to attack spin. We knew that was going to happen, and it’s difficult as a captain because there’s little you can do.
He continued, “Halfway through day three, they didn’t know where to turn or what to do. That’s what England’s Bazball strategy can achieve. What we saw—and whether this was because Virat Kohli was not present—was that, with some inexperience in their middle order and on the field, they didn’t know where to turn or who to look at.Either how will we chase in the fourth inning or how can we stop England’s onslaught? They seemed a little disoriented.”
