Sarfaraz Khan’s quest for a Test debut was prolonged as Rajat Patidar was picked for India’s second Test against England.
Rajat Patidar was picked for Friday’s second Test match between India and England at Vishakhpatnam, prolonging Sarfaraz Khan’s wait for his Test debut. Following the injury withdrawal of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, Sarfaraz and Patidar were included in the Indian team. But Patidar was picked ahead of Sarfaraz to take Rahul’s place in the starting XI, while Jadeja was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav. Social media users voiced their displeasure with Sarfaraz’s absence and aired their opinions.
India lacks expertise in the spin department going into the second game, and the hosts will also be without a well-developed batting lineup. Due to personal reasons, Virat Kohli will miss the match, and injuries have ruled out KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja for the second Test.
Following their victory of the first Test by a margin of 28 runs, England has picked three inexperienced frontline spinners: Tom Hartley, Rehan Ahmed, and Shoaib Bashir. The most experienced player, Jack Leach, is sidelined with a knee injury.
India (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Srikar Bharat(w), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav.
