Fans got a first look at CSK’s jersey for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, announced on Thursday a new sponsorship agreement with Etihad Airways, the official airline of the United Arab Emirates. During the partnership event, supporters were given a first peek at CSK’s shirt for the upcoming season. The CSK players will wear the Etihad Airways logo on the back of their jerseys in viral photos and videos posted to social media. The back of CSK skipper MS Dhoni’s jersey was also shown at the event, as captured in a viral video.

Dhoni prepares for his much-anticipated return to IPL competition by hitting the nets.
Dhoni declared his retirement from international cricket in August 2020 and is now just active in the IPL. Last season, he led CSK to a record-equaling fifth title with a stunning victory over Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad.
Keeping fans’ anticipation about Dhoni’s future after this season, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan stated that only Dhoni could say if it would be his final season.

“I don’t know. See, the captain will respond immediately to you. He doesn’t tell us what he’s going to do,” Viswanathan stated, as reported by news sources.

Dhoni had knee surgery in early June this year. The player is now undergoing rehabilitation and is expected to be match-fit before the IPL 2024 season begins.

“He is doing better now. He has begun his rehabilitation. He began working at the gym. And, in about ten days, he’ll be working in the nets as well,” added Viswanathan.

CSK made some outstanding purchases at the Players Auction in Dubai on December 19 in order to maintain their Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The MS Dhoni-led team signed six players in all, with New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell being the most costly acquisition, at Rs 14 crore. The five-time champions surprised everyone when they paid Rs 8.4 crore for uncapped Indian batsman Sameer Rizvi. Following the release of India all-rounder Shardul Thakur from KKR, CSK resigned.
