On Thursday in Rajkot, Anil Kumble and Dinesh Karthik presented Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel with Test caps 311 and 312. Both players were expected to join the Indian cricket team for the third Test against England.
Sarfaraz’s father and coach, Naushad Khan, was brought in near the sidelines as Kumble presented the Mumbai batter with the cap, making the event even more poignant. Naushad became emotional during the momentous occasion, and the proud father dropped a tear.
With the series tied at one wicket, Team India convened prior to the Test match, with Kumble presenting the Test cap to Sarfaraz and wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik taking care of Dhruv Jurel.
With an impressive Ranji Trophy record, Sarfaraz has been hammering away at the doors of the Indian cricket squad for some time. At an astounding average of 69.85, Sarfaraz has amassed 3912 runs in 45 first-class matches. During this period, he amassed 14 hundreds and 11 fifties, and he also made an impression for the India ‘A’ team against the England Lions.
Sarfaraz hit fifty for India ‘A’ in the first unofficial Test, and then he struck an outstanding sixteen1 in the second.
