“Nakhre Nahi Chalenge”: Jay Shah Issues A Warning To Indian Players Amid Ishan Kishan Row

On Wednesday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah made it apparent that playing red-ball cricket in the domestic league will be a requirement for all cricketers under central contract.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, stated on Wednesday that playing red-ball cricket in the domestic circuit will be mandatory for all cricketers under central contract, and the management will not accept any form of justification. Shah made the observation that all players must represent their state teams if called upon by the coach or captain while speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium renaming ceremony. The announcement was made in the midst of the Ishan Kishan scandal and rumors that the BCCI had invited him to represent Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy.

While speaking with Kishan, Shah made it clear that the announcement did not relate to him specifically and that all cricket players who do not play for their country will be subject to it.

“I’ll be writing to all contracted players as well as informing them over the phone.” It is your obligation to play red-ball cricket if the captain, coach, and chairman of selectors so desire. “Nakhre Nahi Chalenge” means “no melting down.” In addition, Jay Shah informed reporters, “I am not saying this specifically about Ishan Kishan since it will apply to all the players uniformly. He is still a young athlete.

“Everyone will have to play, otherwise, the chairman of the selection committee has given me his suggestions and I am going to give him a free hand to let him take his own calls freely,” she said.

Shah also stated that all decisions would be made after conferring with the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

“Whatever advice we get from the NCA — say suppose somebody’s body is not able to handle both white-ball and red-ball cricket — so we do not want to impose anything in that regard,” he told reporters.

“(It applies to) anyone who is fit and young — we will not tolerate any more tantrums.” This letter is for all centrally contracted players,” Shah stated, adding clarity.

“Everyone will have to play, otherwise, the chairman of the selection committee has given me his suggestions and I am going to give him a free hand to let him take his own calls freely,” he stated.
