Amelia Kerr joins the Mumbai Indians for the second year in a row.

In the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, the Mumbai Indians made a dream start as they started their campaign with five wins on the trot, including a record 143-run win in their opener vs. the Gujarat Giants. MI were unstoppable for most of the first season, going on to win the title in front of a passionate and full-house crowd at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
MI are stacked with all-rounders in their squad, and they will have the world’s top two ranked all-rounders in women’s T20I rankings: Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr, who turn out for them for the second year in a row. Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is ranked 7th in the T20I all-rounder rankings, will also look to reprise her form from the first edition.
Amelia Kerr is an all-rounder from Wellington, New Zealand. She is a right-handed batter and a leg-break bowler. Kerr’s all-round abilities make her a significant addition to any squad, and there were no surprises at the inaugural WPL auction as the Kiwi all-rounder started a bidding war that was ultimately won by the Mumbai Indians, who got Kerr for INR 1 crore.
Her ability to deceive the batters with variations and turns makes her a crucial member of MI’s bowling attack. She had a good outing in the first season, finishing as the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament and also scoring 149 runs at a SR of 133.
