Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin regained his number one position in the bowlers’ rankings with a nine-wicket performance in his 100th Test match.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin of India regained his top rank in the bowlers’ list with a nine-wicket haul in his 100th Test match. Meanwhile, his captain Rohit Sharma returned to the top-10 in the batting charts of the most recent ICC rankings on Wednesday, finishing sixth. India easily won the fifth and final Test match of their series thanks to an outstanding performance by veteran right-armer Ravi Shankar, who claimed four wickets in the first innings and then took 36 wickets in the second.

The ICC said in a statement that Ashwin’s large haul enabled him to pass teammate Jasprit Bumrah and take over the top spot, which he had previously held earlier this year.

Following his spectacular century in Dharmsala, Rohit moved up five spots to sixth position, within 108 rating points of top-ranked Test batsman Kane Williamson.

Shubman Gill (up 11 ranks to equal 20th) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (up 2 places to eighth) both set new career-best ratings after having strong individual series against Ben Stokes’ team.

With six wickets in the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch, Bumrah tied for second place with Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood.

Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin’s teammate, rose to 16th overall and achieved a new career-high rating after his impressive performance against England, which included seven wickets and Player of the Match honours.

Matt Henry of New Zealand advanced to a career-best position as well, moving up six spots to 12th.

India’s spinner Ravindra Jadeja maintained a significant lead over Ashwin in the revised Test all-round rankings, with two notable changes: Australia captain Pat Cummins moved up two slots to eighth place, while Henry moved up six spots to eleventh.
