Ravindra, 24, is the youngest recipient in the award’s history, following a season in which he has established himself as a key member of New Zealand’s red and white teams.
At the New Zealand Cricket Awards, Melie Kerr won the top accolade for women.
Kane Williamson received the ANZ Test Player of the Year Award for his remarkable performance in Test cricket, as well as the Redpath Cup for men’s first-class batting.
Ravindra, 24, is the youngest winner of the award in its history, following a season in which he has established himself as a regular for New Zealand’s red and white teams.
Ravindra shined at the ODI World Cup in India, amassing 578 runs at an average of 64, including three hundreds and two half-centuries, including an unbeaten 123 against England in Ahmedabad.
As a result, Ravindra was named the ICC’s Emerging Player of the Year for 2023, and he signed a USD 350,000 Indian Premier League deal with the Chennai Super Kings.
The Sir Richard Hadlee Medal capped up Ravindra’s breakout season on the international scene, during which he played for the Kiwis in all three formats.
Ravindra maintained his spectacular rise in the Test arena, scoring New Zealand’s highest-ever maiden Test century of 240 during the first Test against South Africa at Bay Oval and contributing significantly to the Black Caps’ first Test series win over South Africa.
He also impressed on the T20 international scene, appearing in 14 of the Black Caps’ 26 T20I matches this season and smashing a blistering 68 off 35 balls in the opening T20I against Australia at Sky Stadium.
Kerr won all of the major female honors, including the Debbie Hockley Medal after being named ANZ ODI and T20I Player of the Year, as well as the Dream11 Super Smash Women’s Player of the Year.
The leg-spinning allrounder was the White Ferns’ best ODI run-scorer, with 541 runs at an average of 67, including her third and fourth century.
She was also the team’s joint-leading T20 wicket-taker and second-highest T20I run scorer, with 252 runs at 42 average and 118 strike rate.
Kerr’s international accomplishments were honored when she was included to the ICC Women’s ODI and T20I Teams of the Year for 2023.
Kerr also led the way domestically, captaining the Wellington Blaze to their fourth Dream11 Super Smash victory in six years, collecting 437 runs at an average of 72 and taking 20 wickets at 8 with an economy of 4.47.
