At Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to win the Women’s Premier League 2024 championship. First to bat, DC was dismissed for 113 runs in 18.3 overs. The weekend audience that came to support the home team was disappointed as RCB managed to reach the target of 114 with three balls remaining. Before committing harakiri and losing 10 wickets for just 49 runs, DC was cruising at 64 for no loss in 43 balls with Shafali Verma (44 off 27 balls) in fine form. Following Shafali’s exploits at the top of the order, spinners Shreyanka Patil (4/12) and Sophie Molineux (3/20) assisted RCB in mounting a spectacular comeback.
