Despite a low attendance in the just finished match against Pakistan, Perth’s Optus Stadium will host the first Test, which is expected to take place in November.

Cricket Australia has revealed the venues for their five-match Test series against India. Despite a low turnout for their most recent match against Pakistan, Perth’s Optus Stadium will likely host the opening Test in November. Western Australia and Cricket Australia will collaborate and make every effort to increase stadium attendance in Perth.

The governing body’s first priority, according to sources close to the board who spoke on condition of anonymity because the schedule hasn’t been made public yet, is to improve Test cricket in Perth. In prior seasons, the 60,000-seat Perth Stadium has not been nearly as full for Test matches as it is during Perth Scorchers BBL games. The Big Bash League game between the Perth Scorchers and Pakistan had the largest attendance at the stadium—28,494—while the Test series against Pakistan had the lowest (17,666). Perth’s Test attendance numbers are anticipated to increase as a result of England and India’s scheduled visits to Australia within the next two years.

According to the sources, there will be a three-hour time difference for the series opener in Perth and a day-night Test in Adelaide, which will provide cricket a primetime lead-up to the Big Bash on Channel Seven and Fox. The Twenty20 tournament might go on unbroken from the middle of December to the end of January.

The Gabba in Brisbane will host the third Test match of the series, while Adelaide Oval will host the second match. The legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the Boxing Day Test, while Sydney Cricket Ground will host the last game of the series.

The schedule for the upcoming season has not yet been released by Cricket Australia; an announcement is anticipated by the end of the month. But the Men’s and Women’s Big Bash League’s upcoming season’s full details have been revealed by the board.

A representative for Cricket Australia stated, as cited by The Sydney Morning Herald, “The schedule is yet to be finalized.”
