According to the ICC, Hasaranga’s most recent infraction occurred during the third ODI, and he “breached the threshold of eight demerit points, which, under article 7.6 of the Code, have been converted into four suspension points.”All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who came out of retirement on Tuesday, may be available for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first few games in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The ICC suspended him from the forthcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh.

Hasaranga, who ended his Test career in August of last year, was included in Sri Lanka’s 17-man team for the next two-Test series against Bangladesh, which gets underway on Friday.

However, in his most recent offense during the third ODI, the 26-year-old “breached the threshold of eight demerit points, which, pursuant to article 7.6 of the Code, have been converted into four suspension points,” according to the ICC.

Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match,” was deemed to have been broken by Hasaranga, according to the ICC’s website.

Right-arm spinner “snatched his cap” from an on-field umpire during the 37th over of the match, and he also “ridiculed” the umpiring in the match, according to the ICC.

As punishment for his offense, he was assessed a fifty percent fee and three demerit points. His overall demerit points over a 24-month period were now eight as a result, according to the ICC.

at the third Twenty20 International match against Afghanistan at Dambulla last month, Hasaranga already had five demerit points, three of which were docked. Additionally, he was suspended for the two Twenty20 International matches against Bangladesh.

After adding the most recent demerit points, he has now over the eight demerit point threshold, which has been translated into four suspension points in accordance with article 7.6 of the Code, according to the ICC.

Hasaranga will miss the two ICC World Test Championship Tests against Bangladesh because of the four suspension points, which are equivalent to a ban from two Tests, four ODIs, or four T20Is, depending on which happens first, the governing body stated.

Kusal Mendis, the captain of Sri Lanka, was also hit with three demerit points and a 50% match fee penalties by the ICC for “abusing the umpires while shaking hands with them.”

This was against item 2.13 of the Code, which states that it is improper to “personally abuse a player, player support staff, umpire, or match referee during an international match.”As to the ICC, Mendis committed his first offense in a span of 24 months.

Andy Pycroft imposed sanctions on both players, who acknowledged their transgressions.

The second match is scheduled to take place in Chattogram from March 30 to April 3, with the first Test taking place in Sylhet from March 22–26.

SRH offered Hasaranga Rs 1.5 crore as a starting price.

According to the first two weeks’ IPL schedule, SRH will face the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23 in Kolkata. They will go to Hyderabad on March 27 to face the Mumbai Indians, and then to Ahmedabad on March 31 to face the Gujarat Titans.
