Ben Stokes has decided not to compete in the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held later this year in the West Indies and the United States of America. On April 2, the veteran stated that he wanted to improve his fitness and fulfill his obligations as a premier all-rounder for the Brits in all three formats.
Ben Stokes struggled to perform as an all-rounder in the just finished Test series against India. Leading the visiting team, Stokes focused mostly on his batting and only bowled once in the final Test match, taking India captain Rohit Sharma’s wicket with the opening ball of the match.
Notably, Ben Stokes had also chosen not to participate in the Indian Premier League 2024 season, which began on April 22. Stokes was acquired by the Chennai franchise for Rs 16.25 crore, but he only appeared in two games during the 2023 campaign. Stokes decided to withdraw from the IPL 2024 season before the December 2024 auction, with the Super Kings choosing to release him.
