KL Rahul’s Real Thoughts On Mayank Yadav’s IPL 2024 Find: “One Ball Hit Me Really Hard”

In the Indian Premier League, Mayank Yadav became the sixth bowler to take three wickets in back-to-back games.

Mayank Yadav rattled Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with his blistering pace at Chinnaswamy on Tuesday. After recording back-to-back victories, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul had words of praise for the 21-year-old and joked that he preferred bowling from 20 yards behind the stumps to facing the batsman. In the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, LSG secured a commanding 28-run victory at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday thanks to outstanding performances from Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Mayank.

In the ongoing IPL, Mayank lit the speed gun on fire once more, tearing apart Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green in the process as he scorched RCB with a blistering pace of 156.7 kph.

For LSG, the 21-year-old has made a difference in the last two games. At the Chinnaswamy, 182 appeared to be a fairly attainable target, but LSG won easily thanks to an electric spell of exceptional accuracy and raw velocity. He stunned RCB hitters by consistently hitting above 150 kph, including a season-high of 156.7 kph. He finished with a three-for-14 record.

The LSG captain praised the Delhi breakaway and said that he was smacked hard in the glove by one of Mayank’s balls. Due to injuries, Mayank did not get a single opportunity with the LSG team throughout the previous two seasons.

“Yes, I was hit badly by one ball, but I’m incredibly delighted with Mayank’s recent bowling performance in the previous few games. Sadly, an injury kept him out of the dugout for the previous season after he silently and patiently waited for two seasons. But he has been in Bombay, where the physiotherapists have been working nonstop. He’s suffered a few injuries at a young age and is aware that bowling 155 is not an easy feat. He has an excellent disposition and takes excellent care of his physique, which is extremely nice to witness. I would like to be 20 yards behind the stumps watching him bowl; that’s where I prefer to be,” Rahul remarked during a post-game press conference.

The Delhi seamer made history by becoming the sixth bowler in the IPL to claim three wickets in back-to-back games. Mayank won consecutive Player of the Match honors to kick off his IPL career.

Rahul declared, “Overall a really good performance,” praising his team’s “overall” strong effort. The seamers had some assistance, although the wicket was a little tough. Quinton got things going well for us. We were ten to fifteen runs ahead of schedule. Using the wicket instead of the yorkers was the topic of discussion. Preserving composure is essential. Our record speaks differently, if I look at it.”

After Quinton de Kock hit a scorching 81 off of 56 deliveries, LSG was asked to bat and managed to score a respectable 181/5 to wrap up the game.

As a result of their inability to form strong alliances, RCB ultimately collapsed and handed the hosts a 28-run loss.

At the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, LSG—who has won two of its last three games—will take on the Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions.
