In the Indian Premier League game in Jaipur against the Gujarat Titans, captain Sanju Samson of the Rajasthan Royals was fined Rs 12 lakh for his team’s slow over rate.
Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, was fined Rs 12 lakh for his team’s poor over rate against the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. The match took place in Jaipur. The Shubman Gill-led Titans ended the Royals’ four-match winning streak on Wednesday by winning by three wickets in an exciting last-ball contest. “Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on April 10,” according to an IPL statement.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Samson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement went on to say.
Samson hit an unbeaten 68 off 38 deliveries and was well supported by Riyan Parag (78) as the Royals reached an impressive 196 for 3.
However, GT skipper Gill’s superb 72 at the top, along with a cameo effort by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan (24 off 11 deliveries) at the back end, propelled the former IPL champions over the finish line with the last delivery.
