Rohit Sharma, who is 36 years old and still going strong, has stated his position on retirement.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, which is currently underway with the Mumbai Indians, is Rohit Sharma’s exclusive concentration. Given that he is no longer the captain of the T20 league, Rohit is just focused on improving his batting abilities, particularly in light of the upcoming T20 World Cup in June. At thirty-six years of age, Rohit has also noticed discussions surrounding him regarding a possible retirement. But the Hitman still has a burning desire to win important tournaments for India, so retiring isn’t something that’s currently on his mind.
Regarding retiring, Rohit mentioned that he is still driven to win the World Cup for India and possibly the ICC World Test Championship final in a conversation on “Breakfast With Champions.”
“To be honest, I haven’t given retirement any thought. However, I have no idea where life will lead you. I believe I will play well for a few more years at this point, and after that, I’m not sure. “I hope India makes it to the 2025 World Cup final, and I really want to win the World Cup,” Rohit stated on the program.
Rohit also discussed India’s anguish at the ODI World Cup 2023, when they were defeated by Australia in the final. Rohit’s India, who had been unbeaten throughout the tournament, were defeated by Pat Cummins’ men, causing them to leave an ICC event empty-handed once more.
“For me, the 50-over World Cup is the real World Cup.” We have grown up watching the World Cup. More importantly, it was taking place in India, in front of our home crowd. We played so brilliantly up until the final. When we won the semi-finals, I thought we were almost there. “We’re doing everything right.”
“What is the one thing that could cost us the World Cup? Nothing came to my mind. We were playing good cricket because I thought we ticked all the right boxes. Confidence was present.
“We were all expected to have one awful day, and it must have been ours. Don’t think we played awful cricket in the final; some things didn’t go our way. But Australia was slightly better than us,” Rohit stated.
