CSK defeated MI by 20 runs to claim third place in the IPL points table, and MS Dhoni’s late blitz proved to be the difference.
According to Eric Simmons, the bowling consultant for the Chennai Super Kings, Mahendra Singh Dhoni serves as the “batting template” for the team’s death bowling. He claims that tactics that are effective against Dhoni during practise sessions also usually work well during games. When Dhoni entered the field for the final four balls of CSK’s innings, he hit the first three for sixes, which enabled the side to score 26 runs off of Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya’s final over on Sunday night.

“There may be a few annoyances. He simply have the capacity to put things aside and take care of what needs to be done. His injuries are what have us more worried. “It’s not so much him as it is the public, who are more worried about his injuries,” Simmons continued.
According to Simmons, Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur were the “unsung heroes” in CSK’s victory, even if Matheesha Pathirana (4/28) earned the recognition.
“I’ve never seen an over bowled so well as by Shardul. We discuss the importance of execution; you examine his impact points where he scored two runs. It was superb,” he remarked.

But Simmons argued that the existing statutes are not precise enough, therefore he asked for the broad rule to be further clarified.
“We may then strategically structure overs if they provide us with clear guidelines and a thorough understanding. It’s not an attack on the umpires; rather, it’s challenging because it’s an interpretation. We could apply the broad regulations deftly if we understood exactly what it was and how it operated,” he said.
