India’s final selection may yet include a few surprises, even though it is extremely improbable that the BCCI will choose any new IPL players.
Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar believes it should be obvious for the selectors to include Rinku Singh in the squad for the next T20 World Cup. The deadline to name the teams is May 1st, and the BCCI is anticipated to reveal India’s 15-man roster later this month. Because of this, the Indian Premier League (IPL) selectors are closely monitoring the players’ performance in the current season. India’s final selection may yet include a few surprises, even though it is extremely improbable that the BCCI will choose any new IPL players.
Manjrekar hoped that the selectors would remember Rinku and include him in the 15-man probables amidst the continuing controversy surrounding Team India’s selection for the grand finale.
“I hope selectors won’t overlook Rinku Singh because he’s not getting many opportunities. He can easily fit right in with the Indian team. You have witnessed his ability to be excellent on every occasion when given the chance, both in terms of his range and consistency. “I like him, even though he’s not on the Indian team core or among the big names we are considering,” Manjrekar stated to Firstpost.
In a T20I match against Ireland in 2023, Rinku made his debut for India. He has amassed 356 runs with a strike rate of 176.23 across 15 T20Is thus far. In terms of his finishing, the left-handed batsman has been a revelation for Team India.
Rinku has been able to give KKR an extra boost with his batting in death overs even during the current IPL season.
