During the IPL 2024 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat Kohli became enraged due to a contentious dismissal.
Virat Kohli got enraged after a questionable dismissal during the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Kohli was caught by Harshit Rana off his own bowling, although the batter believed the ball was over his waist. However, replays revealed that the ball was dipping, and because Kohli was standing outside the crease, the ball would have ended up below his waist if he had been standing in his typical batting posture. Kohli was upset with the third umpire’s decision, while RCB captain Faf Du Plessis also spoke out over the controversial dismissal.
“It was crazy; rules are rules. Virat and I thought the ball was higher than the waist (on Kohli’s dismissal), but I guess they measured from the popping crease; one team believes it’s high, the other doesn’t. “That’s how the game goes at times,” Faf stated at the post-game presentation.
“Then the partnership was magnificent (the Jacks-Patidar partnership), but when you don’t win many games, panic sets in, and the Narine over was game-changing.” You don’t feel like you have time to settle down and bat (on the evolution of the IPL this season); the game doesn’t allow for it; certainly, you have an extra batter, but in chases like these, you have to keep going.”
“I assumed the match versus Narine would be the end of the game. In the tiny things, I am actually proud of the boys tonight for the way they bowled and fielded; we did give up a couple of large overs near the end, but I believe we held them under par. We believed we’d go hard on the batting powerplay and find those boundaries at the opening of the game.”
“We were desperate, 10/10 in terms of effort; the way we worked on the ground, the expressions spoke the story.
We have an incredible fanbase, and we want to make them happy. We want them to smile. We’ll need to keep working hard and try to turn things around.”
Royal Challengers Bengaluru stayed at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table after losing by one run to Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR scored 222 thanks to superb efforts from Shreyas Iyer and Phil Salt, before Andre Russell got three wickets to seal the win for the hosts.
