Tilak Varma is optimistic in Mumbai Indians’ comeback: ‘We always catch up in the middle and end of the IPL’

MI has three wins after seven games this season and is sixth in the points chart.

Tilak Varma is optimistic that the Mumbai Indians will make a run at the championship, beginning with their match against the Rajasthan Royals on Monday, even though they are currently positioned in the lower part of the points table halfway through the season.

“Mumbai has always been in this scenario (start slow), with the exception of one year. We don’t get off to a fantastic start, but Mumbai always makes up ground toward the middle and end of the competition. As a result, we consistently have faith in our plans, strategies, methods, and everything else. On the eve of the Jaipur game, Tilak stated, “Hopefully, we will also do that this year, and we are trying to do that.”

We don’t have much interest in winning the title; we are just focused on one game at a time. Only one game at a time will be played. Everything is going fine; as I mentioned, we are just formulating a strategy. In the next games, we will prevail,” he continued.

MI has three victories after seven games this season and sits sixth in the standings. The Hardik Pandya-led team had triumphed against Punjab last week after losing to Chennai Super Kings in their previous home match.

However, with six victories from seven games, Rajasthan is leading the points table. Three of RR’s four games at home have been victories. The new ball pacer from Rajasthan, Trent Boult, is one of the biggest obstacles Tilak identified for the five-time winners. After just a few games, the Kiwi has claimed seven wickets and proved to be a formidable opponent for the opposing batsmen. In their previous meeting, Boult had taken three wickets, including Rohit Sharma in the opening over, making him the choice of the bowlers. Because Trent Boult consistently performs exceptionally well, he is a renowned bowler in all facets of the game, including T20. However, the rhythm of our hitters is very strong. Tilak stated, “I’ll give Trent Boult credit; he bowled well, but the wicket was tricky in the last match against RR.”

We shall thus begin with caution. We intend to observe the wicket’s progress over time. We always field with aggression and use power hitting when the wicket is going nicely. We’ll thus demonstrate that identical objective. We will first take some time and adjust our plans based on the circumstances if the wicket is acting in a certain way,” he continued.
