A cheeky comment from KKR star on the new ‘trend’ of free-flowing boundaries

this IPL is, “Cheerleaders Should Start Dancing Only When…”

Spinner Varun Chakravarthy of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) proposed that the cheerleaders should only dance after sixes and not after every boundary hit by the batters during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which is now raging. The number of boundaries crossed during matches in IPL 2024 has significantly grown, with more than 250 scores breached on several occasions this season. Consequently, the cheerleaders have been faced with an excessive workload. Chakravarthy made the witty proposal following the KKR vs Delhi Capitals game, taking into account the practice of cheerleaders dancing after every boundary.

Chakravarthy remarked, “Unfortunately, that has become the trend and maybe they should dance only for the sixes and not for fours (laughs)” on Monday following his acceptance of the “Man of the Match” honor.

In his four overs, Chakravarthy recorded match-winning figures of 3/16, helping KKR limit DC to 153/9 in 20 overs.

Phil Salt led the KKR batsmen in the chase, scoring 68 runs off of just 33 deliveries as the opener.

KKR eventually cantered home in 16.3 overs, raising their net run-rate to 1.096 thanks to the finishing contributions of Shreyas Iyer (33 not out; 23b) and Venkatesh Iyer (26 not out; 23b).

When asked to evaluate his performance, Chakravarthy stated that he was happy to pick up some wickets following a challenging effort against the Punjab Kings last week, who managed an unprecedented IPL chase of 263 runs.

“You could see that the pitch was turning more as the game went on, and it was holding a little bit.” Regarding Rishabh Pant’s wicket and his match, I believe the first ball was better when the catch was dropped. If it had been any other ground, that ball that put him out may have gone for six. These days, cricket is a game of narrow margins. The one I liked best was the Stubbs one.(About what transpires during their conversations): Silence (laughs). He is usually there for me when something does not go as planned. It was a hard pill to swallow after giving up so many runs in the previous game. It was pleasant that everyone, including Shahrukh Khan and Abhishek Nayar, chatted to him “.
